What Does the Free PSL Test Measure?
Facial Symmetry
Corresponding landmark pairs on the left and right sides - eye corners, nostrils, mouth corners, jaw points - are compared to see how closely the two halves of your face mirror each other.
Facial Proportions
The spacing and positioning between features is measured: vertical thirds, midline alignment, and the relative distances between eyes, nose, and mouth.
Overall Facial Harmony
Those measurements are normalized for face size and head tilt, then combined into a single structural estimate on the 0-8 PSL scale with a provisional tier range.
The free browser test provides a preliminary PSL estimate from a front-facing image. The PSL Rank iPhone app provides the complete analysis using front and side-profile photos across 12 facial categories, including your halos and failos and a personalized improvement plan. Understanding Your PSL Score & Rating
“PSL score” and “PSL rating” describe the same thing - your position on the PSL scale, given either as a number or as a named tier. If the terminology is new, start with what PSL means, or see what counts as an average or good PSL score.
Free PSL Test - FAQ
What is a PSL score?
+
A PSL score is a facial attractiveness rating on a 0-8 scale, where roughly 4 is average and 6 or higher is exceptionally rare. Each score maps to a named tier such as MTN, HTN, or Chadlite.
Is the PSL test really free?
+
Yes - this PSL test is 100% free. No signup, no account, and no payment required, ever.
Do I need to create an account?
+
No. There is no account, no email required to run the test, and no app download needed for the browser version.
Does PSL Rank upload my photo?
+
No. The browser test detects facial landmarks locally on your device using on-device machine learning. Your selfie is not uploaded to PSL Rank for analysis and is not stored.
How is a PSL score calculated?
+
The tool places 478 facial landmarks on your photo, measures symmetry between corresponding left and right points and the spacing between features, normalizes those measurements for face size and head tilt, then maps the result onto the 0-8 PSL scale.
Can I take a PSL test online?
+
Yes. This page runs the test entirely in your browser on desktop or mobile - select a front-facing selfie and the estimate appears in seconds.
How accurate is an online PSL test?
+
It gives a consistent, repeatable estimate based on facial symmetry and proportions measured from 478 landmarks. Treat it as a directional guide, not a clinical or medical measurement - photo angle, lighting, and expression all affect the result.
Is PSL Rank's free test the same as the iOS app?
+
No. The free browser test gives a preliminary estimate from one front-facing image. The PSL Rank iPhone app runs the complete analysis using front and side-profile photos across 12 facial categories, including halos, failos, and a personalized plan.
How should I take my selfie for the most accurate result?
+
Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression, keep your hair off your forehead, use even lighting with no strong shadows, and hold the camera at eye level about an arm's length away.
What does PSL stand for?
+
PSL stands for PuaHate, SlutHate, and Lookism - the three online forums where the rating scale originated.
What's a good PSL score?
+
Anything above about 4.5 (HTN) is above average, and 6.0+ (Chad or Stacy) is genuinely uncommon - see the full PSL scale tiers for the complete breakdown.
