PSL Scale Explained
The PSL scale is a 0-8 scale used to rate facial attractiveness. Roughly 4 is average, 5-6 is above average, and 7 or higher is exceptionally rare. Each score maps to a named tier that describes how a face compares to the general population.

The PSL scale is a 0-8 facial attractiveness rating scale. PSL stands for PuaHate, SlutHate, and Lookism - the forums where the scale was developed. Unlike a casual 1-10 rating, the PSL scale is applied specifically to facial structure and is anchored to how rare a given level of attractiveness is in the general population.
How PSL Scores Work
A PSL score is a single number from 0 to 8, usually given to one decimal place. Higher scores mean stronger facial structure and harmony relative to the population. Because the scale is rarity-anchored, most people cluster between 3 and 5, and each additional point above 5 represents a much smaller slice of the population. A score and a tier are two ways of saying the same thing - the number is the position, the tier is the label.

What Makes Up a PSL Rating?
A PSL rating is not a single measurement. It combines several categories of facial structure, each contributing to overall harmony.
- Facial symmetry - how closely the left and right sides mirror each other
- Facial thirds and midface proportions
- Eye area, including canthal tilt and eye spacing
- Jawline definition and chin projection
- Cheekbones and overall facial harmony
- Nose, lips, hairline, and skin quality
- Sexual dimorphism - how masculine or feminine the structure reads

PSL Scale vs a Traditional 1-10 Rating
A 1-10 rating is an overall impression that includes style, fitness, grooming, and personal taste. The PSL scale is narrower and stricter: it rates facial structure only, uses a 0-8 range, and is calibrated to rarity. As a result, the same person often receives a lower PSL score than their casual 1-10 rating, which is expected rather than a sign of a harsh result.
