What are the facial thirds?
The face is split into an upper third (hairline to glabella, the point between the brows), a middle third (glabella to subnasale, the base of the nose), and a lower third (subnasale to menton, the bottom of the chin).
What are ideal facial thirds?
The classical ideal is three equal thirds at roughly 33.3 percent each. In practice, most attractive faces fall within a few percentage points of even, often with a slightly longer lower third.
How do I measure my facial thirds?
Take a straight-on photo at eye level, then measure the three vertical distances in pixels, millimetres, or any consistent unit. The calculator only uses the ratio between them, so the unit does not matter.
Is a long lower third bad?
Not automatically. A modestly longer lower third with a strong jaw often reads well, especially on men. Problems appear when the lower third is long because of a recessed chin or a long midface.
